The kids were asleep in their cribs and I was strapped with a baby on my back. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet we were a long distance to go. For this project I had planned to shell out a substantial amount of time and money looking for my dream house. In order to stay in my budget, I took my boys along with me as I searched for treasures in estate sales. Our weekly routine that included spending Thursday through Saturday walking around estate and garage sales, shopping for new and used objects. I spent the rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. Looked a little something like it... This was when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. I continued to restore furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. I had a stand at the local market and sold pieces there. There were numerous pieces that I did not think of a solution and I outgrew my space. Then I began hosting open houses at my house which saw over 1 000 guests could visit in the span of a weekend. They could purchase whatever they saw in the first floor. My company Growing Days began here. The business I was running was growing however my family was also growing. It was essential to find the right balance for me. I wanted to be both a mom and a successful business owner. Growing Days was the obvious option. It was in 2013 when my beautiful daughter Nora joined our 4th kiddo. I was thrilled with where my company was heading but I needed some time off. I took a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and also slowed my pace to be at home to take care of the kids. This was just what I was looking for. It wasn't until a couple of months that the phones started to be ringing. People contacted me asking to assist them in interior decor and home renovations. A majority of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. The time flew by before I was managing a full-scale business for home improvement. It began with taking clients on one with a speed I could be confident in. If you had told me that my venture would end up being the premise for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. It's hilarious to look back to it.
