Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967 in Atlanta. She is the fourth Roberts generation to live in Atlanta starting with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. Her father had his first steps towards the theater. As a student of Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in productions with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their first child, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was studying at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple were discharged from the air force and Walter started studying at Tulane University. Walter began working with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In the year 1960, the family moved in Decatur Georgia. In 1964, Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on an on-sunday morning local children's TV show titled Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed themselves. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou established their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. The program ran for 6 years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
